Alappuzha posts win

ALAPPUZHA: Samju A. Joy was in good touch as host Alappuzha defeated Ernakulam 53-37 in the Kerala State junior basketball championship opener at the Municipal Stadium here on Saturday evening.

Six matches were fixed for the opening evening at two venues — the Alappuzha YMCA being the other court — but heavy rain played havoc with the schedule. K.S. Manoj, MP, inaugurated the six-day event.
