Big win for Olympus

Madurai: An all-round performance by Durai (59 and four for 31) and Karthick’s 87 helped Olympus CC score a 149-run win over Jai Hind CC in the MDCA third division league here on Saturday.

The scores: Olympus CC 233 for eight in 30 overs (Durai 59, Karthick 87) bt Jai Hind CC 84 in 20 overs (Durai four for 31); Thirunagar 208 in 28.4 overs (Alagar 60, Kottai 40, Karuppasamy four for 33) bt PS Oliva 138 in 28.5 overs.

Kamalesh sizzles

Four goals by Kamalesh helped Railway Institute register an 8-1 victory over Pandyan Saraswathy Yadava EC in the Madurai DFA ‘B’ division football league here on Saturday.

The scores: Railway Institute 8 (Kamalesh 4, Karthick, Jaisankar, Gunasundar, Durai) bt PSYEC 1 (Jegannathan); Thiagarajar CoE 3 (Simpe 2, Wang) bt Victoria 0; High Court 1 (Reagan Velangam) drew with Temple City 1 (Kumar).

Young Men’s posts win

Young Men’s FC beat Amaravathi Pudur FC 2-1 in the Sivagangai DFA ‘A’ division league at Karaikudi.

Ameen and Meera scored for Young Men’s, while Dineshkumar netted for the loser.

Murali in joint lead

B.T. Muralikrishnan of Southern Railway, Shyam Nikil of Nagercoil and P. Maheswaran of SRM EC are in joint lead with four points each after the fourth round of the Virudhunagar district open chess championship at Virudhunagar.
