Pune: Pune FC rode on a hat-trick by Emeka Ogbonna to thrash State Bank of Travancore 5-1 in the last Group ‘A’ match and qualify for the final round of the I-League second division football here on Saturday. Ogbonna found the target in 33rd, 57th and 76th minutes, while teammate Jeje Lalpekhlva scored the other two goals for Pune FC in the 31st and 40th minutes. Ashif Saheer netted in the 63rd minute to reduce the margin for SBT. With this win, the Pune team has collected seven points from five matches, one point ahead of both Hindustan Aeronautics Sports Club, Bangalore, and ONGC, Mumbai to make it to the final round starting in Guwahati on April 18. — PTI © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
