Kakinada: Prathipadu MLA V Subba Rao and some Transco officials were grilled by the people of Yerravaram village in Yeleswaram mandal at the Praja Patham on Sunday. The MLA was confined to the meeting venue for sometime by the villagers who were perturbed by irregular power supply. TensionThey sought to know what the MLA was doing to solve people’s problems in his constituency and demanded speedy redress of their grievance. The MLA’s attempts to pacify the irate villagers failed as the latter refused to listen to him and insisted that he get things right at the earliest. Police personnel who were on duty tried to control the villagers but were asked by the MLA to desist from using any force. Tension prevailed for a while and villagers let the MLA and his entourage leave the place but after extracting a commitment from him that the situation with regard to power supply would be improved. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
