The scenic beauty of Kolleru Lake. West Godavari district is formed out of the old Godavari in the year 1925. It contains four Revenue Divisions Viz., Eluru. Kovvuru, Narsapur and Jangareddigudem. The district has been divided into 46 revenue mandals, out of which 3 are tribal mandals Viz., Polavaram, Buttaigudem and Jeelugumilli. The district is having 3 natural regions Viz., Delta, Upland and Agency. The entire area under irrigation is being covered by Godavari Western delta and Krishna Delta besides dependable on bore wells and filter points with copious underground water potential. Paddy is the main crop grown both in Khariff and Rabi seasons. The Jowar and Maize follow paddy and millets. The commercial crops like Sugarcane, Chilies, Cotton and Groundnut also grown in the District. The upland area of the District, offers excellent scope for Horticulture Development.
