High Court directive on HSS principals’ plea

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has directed the Director, Higher Secondary Education, to consider and pass appropriate orders on the plea of some of the government higher secondary school principals seeking a pay scale on par with their counterparts in ai- ded higher secondary schools.

The directive was passed while disposing of a writ petition filed by the Higher Secondary School Teachers Association and 48 principals of the government higher secondary schools. The court ordered the Director to pass orders within two months. According to the petitioners, the special salary scale for the principals of higher secondary schools was ordered on January 6, 2006.The principals of the aided higher secondary schools got the salary from January 6, 2006 itself. However, principals of the government higher secondary schools had not been sanctioned the salary even two years after the order.

The court made it clear the fact that some of the petitioners might retire from service would not stand in the way of their claiming salary arrears.
