‘Bring BJP to power for committed government’

TIRTHAHALLI (SHIMOGA DISTRICT): The former Minister D.H. Shankaramurthy has asked workers Bharatiya Janata Party workers to ensure that all eligible voters exercised their franchise as it is their constitutional right.

Addressing the party’s booth-level workers’ meeting here on Tuesday he said that people would have a unique opportunity to elect a committed government by bringing the BJP to power.

The achievement of the BJP-Janata Dal (Secular) coalition Government during its 20-month rule in the State was far more impressive than what the Congress had achieved during its regime, he said.

People should evaluate the BJP’s contribution as a partner in the coalition Government and extend their support to it, Mr. Shankaramurthy said.

Mr. Shankaramurthy said that his initiative, as the Minister for Higher Education, to open 184 government colleges in the State during the coalition rule spoke of the importance given by the Government for higher education.

Mr. Shankaaramurthy appealed to the voters in the Tirthahalli constituency to re-elect Araga Jnanendra and help him create a record of sorts as he had won three times in a row from the segment.

President of the taluk unit of the BJP C.B. Eshwarappa presided over the function.

President of the district BJP unit Girish Patel and party leaders such as Mr. Jnanendar, K. Narasimha Nayak, Nagaraj Shetty, Ashokmurthy and Revathi Ananthamurthy were present.
