NEW DELHI: Byelections to four Lok Sabha and 18 Assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh will be held on May 29, according to an announcement made by the Election Commission here on Wednesday. The vacancies were caused by the resignation of members of Telangana Rashtra Samiti in March in support of their demand for a separate Telengana state. The four Lok Sabha seats are: Adilabad, Karimnagar, Hanamkonda and Warangal. The 18 Assembly seats are: Therlam, Khairatabad, Jadcherla, Vikarabad (SC), Musheerabad, Secunderabad, Siddipet, Dommat, Ramayampet, Yellareddey, Dichpalli, Khanapur (ST), Myadaram (SC), Huzurabad, Kamalapur, Cheriyal, Ghanpur (SC) and Alair (SC). The poll notifications would be issued on May 5. The last date for filing of nominations would be May 12; scrutiny of nomination papers May 13; last date for withdrawal of nominations May 15, poll on May 29 and counting of votes on June 1. The model Code of Conduct will come into force with immediate effect in the districts in which the whole or any part of the parliamentary/Assembly constituencies going for byelections is included.
