Charges framed against ex-DDA chief in graft case

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: A court here on Wednesday framed charges against former Delhi Development Authority Vice-Chairman Subhash Sharma and others in a case of allowing illegal installation of a lift in a West Delhi restaurant for pecuniary gains.

Special CBI Judge I. K. Kochhar framed the charges against Sharma, property dealer Dharamvir Khattar, his alleged associate Ved Prakash Kaushik, and the owners of the restaurant, Pradeep Kapoor and Anil Wadhwa.

The court had earlier acquitted one of the three owners of the hotel, Yashpal Minocha, as the CBI had failed to produce evidence against him.

All the accused will be tried under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Recording testimonies

With all the accused claiming to be innocent and wishing to face trial, the court fixed July 21 for beginning the recording of testimonies of prosecution witness.
