All party dharna protests price rise

Leaders take out rallies and stage dharnas in front of Collectorates

In focus: All party dharna in progress in Sangareddy.

SANGAREDDY: The all-party dharna organised by major political parties against the price rise of essential commodities here on Thursday demanded the Government to step down or control the prices.

Addressing the gathering Telugu Rytu State president and former minister Cheruku Mutyam Reddy predicted doom for the Congress Government in the State in the coming elections. . CPI (M) Medak committee secretary Chukka Ramulu said that the government failed to control the skyrocketing prices of not only essential commodities but also the prices of construction material like steel and Cement.

TDP State secretary Faheem CPI leader Vithal Reddy CPI(M) district secretariat member Mallikharjun, Telugu Rytu general secretary Pratap Reddy also spoke.

Nizamabad Staff Reporter adds: TDP took out a rally and staged dharna at Collectorate. Former ministers Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and Mandava Venkateswar Rao, former MLAs T. Arunatara and A. Annapoornamma, party State secretary A. Narsa Reddy and district general secretary V.G. Goud and ZPTC member K. Dinesh attended.

The leaders wore garlands made of vegetables and leaves as mark of their protest against the soaring prices of vegetables. The CPI (M) the CPI activists also took part.

Nalgonda Staff Reporter adds: All the top leaders of the Telugu Desam and the Left parties took part in the dharna.They criticised the Congress for its failure to tackle the prices and warned of intensifying the movement if it failed to deliver the goods.

Gutta Sukhender Reddy, Badugula Lingaiah Yadav, Uma Madhava Reddy, Mothkupalli Narasimhulu and Sankineni Venkateswara Rao of the Telugu Desam, Nomula Narasimhaiah, Cherupalli Sitaramulu, Julakanti Ranga Reddy, Nandhyala Narasimha Reddy, Anantha Rama Sharma and Tummala Veera Reddy of the CPI (M) and Palla Venkat Reddy and Mallepalli Adi Reddy of the CPI took part in the protest programme. Adilabad Staff Reporter adds: TDP and the Left parties demandedscrapping of futures and forward trading, curb hoarding and black marketing by suitably amending the law.

Karimnagar Staff Reporter adds: The TD and Left parties took out a massive rally from the Kalabharathi to the Collectorate. TD leaders E Peddi Reddy, L Ramana, Ch Sudharkar Rao, CPI leaders Chada Venkat Reddy, M Venkat Swamy, CPI (M) leader Sarangapani and others also participated.
