Venkataramana of South Central Railway won the Air Marshal Subrato Mukherjee memorial all-India FIDE-rated chess tournament in Delhi scoring nine out of the possible 11 points, according to information received here. This was the third national-level title for Venkataramana. Double for RishabhRishabh Agarwal bagged a double, winning the boys’ under-14 singles and doubles titles in the A.K. It is also informed that an umpires clinic will be conducted on April 23 at Begumpet stadium from 5.00 p.m. GHMC coaching campsThe Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will conduct summer coaching camps in 51 disciplines at about 1000 playgrounds in and around the twin cities from April 25 to May 31 with about 1.25 lakh expected to take part, Dr. C.V.S.K. Sarma, Chief Commissioner and Special Officer, GHMC, said. Sarma added that the GHMC limits were split into five zones for smooth and efficient conduct of the camps. “The registration fee is Rs. 50 for cricket, tennis and badminton and for all the other disciplines, it is just Rs. 10 each,” he said. Sarma appealed to the parents to make the optimum use of the facilities by sending their children as part of the overall objective of inculcating a sports culture. Rajasekhara Reddy will inaugurate the swimming pool at Machilipatnam on April 23. It was constructed at a cost of Rs.65 lakh. The 25m pool is the first one to be constructed under the government scheme to develop sports infrastructure at each district headquarters. After the inauguration a summer camp will be conducted at the pool, said District Sports Development Officer B. Sudhakar on Friday. Praneetha in AP teamVijayawada paddler K.
