BANGALORE: The Apache RTR Rally of Mysore 2008 heralds the return of two-wheeler rallying after a gap of eight years. The FMSCI Indian National Rallying Championship for Motorcycles was discontinued in the year 1999, and now is revived as a five round series starting with the Mysore event. Motorsports Inc., a Bangalore-based agency would run the 4 -stroke motorcycle rally. The rally already has an entry list of 32 bikes and more are expected to come in. Team TVS Racing is fielding 3 motorcycles. The top riders who have already confirmed participation are well-known National motocross champion C. Vijayakumar, and former National rally champion G. Prasad. Riders from various States like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Karnataka, have also confirmed participation. The Apache RTR Rally of Mysore 2008 will start with the pre-event scrutiny at Ruchi, The Prince Hotel on the Hinkal Road, followed by the organised recee (reconnaissance on Saturday, and the actual Rally will flag off at 8 a.m. from Ruchi, The Prince at Mysore on Sunday. — Special Correspondent © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
