Kottayam: Kollam crushed host Kottayam by an innings and 152 runs in the South Zone under-16 inter-district cricket tournament at the University stadium here on Friday. Starting the second innings 276 runs in arrears, Kottayam didn’t fare well in the second essay. It was bundled out for 124 runs with Rahul Krishna (four for 34) and Mohd. Aslam (three for 24) sharing the spoils. Earlier resuming at the overnight score of 236 for five, Kollam added a further 96 runs to pile on the host’s agony. Kollam took five points for the win. Two points for TvmAt the Medical College ground, Alappuzha denied Thiruvananthapuram an out-right victory. Following on after being dismissed for 125 runs in reply to Thiruvannathapuram’s first innings total of 402, Alappuzha managed to score 226 for nine off 67 overs when play ended. Thiruvananthapuram took two points for its first innings lead. The scores: Kottayam 56 & 124 in 42.4 overs (Amal V.Kumar 40 n.o., Rahul Krishna four for 34, Mohd.
