Delay in appointment draws flak

Inordinate delay in the appointment of Municipal Commissioner drew flak from the CPI on Friday.

Party floor leader in the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation general body P. Gowtham Reddy, at a press conference, expressed doubts over the ruling Congress party’s “motive” behind the delay in naming a successor to Natarajan Gulzar.

Mr. Reddy said it had been 18 days since Mr. Gulzar left, and in-charge Commissioner Gaurav Uppal was not taking any policy decisions.

The administration had been paralysed, he said.
