Correspondent

VIZIANAGARAM: Telugu Desam party, district committee, took exception to the reported announcement of Botcha Satyanarayana, Minister for Housing at the District Congress Committee meeting here on Friday that cement would be supplied to beneficiaries at Rs. 200 a bag and said that it was a clear violation of election code that is in force in the district since April 16 when the Election Commission had announced schedule for by-election to Therlam Assembly constituency in the district.

Price rise

Further, it alleged that the Chief Minister at a Cabinet meeting two days ago had taken a decision to appoint committee to check price rise.

These two issues would be brought to the notice of Election Commission and State Electoral Officer, said Yadla Ramana Murty, the party district president, at a press conference on Saturday.

Petition

He also demanded that Collector B. Kishore be relieved from poll duty as an election petition with regard to by-election to Bobbili Lok Sabha seat was still pending in the High Court.

He has also taken exception to the reported instruction of the Collector to district officials that they must “get ready” for the by-election. He also condemned the ‘ill-treatment’ of media persons at the DCC meeting on Friday.

The party leaders I.V.P. Raju, former AMC Chairman A. Ramana and others were present.
