The Visakhapatnam Port Trust (VPT) has won the Green Tech “silver” award, instituted by the Green Tech Foundation, New Delhi, for implementing best safety systems in 2007.

VPT is the only port which got the award though as many as 168 processes and service organisations participated in the competition. VPT senior marine engineer B. Seetarama Murthy, safety officer A. Venkata Ramana and executive engineer Hari Babu received the award at a function held at Mumbai recently.
