Setback for Indian women

Kazan (Russia): The Indian women suffered a severe jolt in their Olympic hockey qualifying campaign when they lost 1-2 to Netherlands Antilles here on Sunday.

India, which beat Russia 3-1 in its first match, was the more attacking side in the first half, but trailed 0-1 at the breather to its opponents ranked 20th, conceding a goal to Claire Visser in the 31st minute.

After the change of ends, India restored parity through Rani Devi in the 42nd minute before Antilles’ Maria Hinskens scored the winner in the 54th minute.
