Novel health campaign gets under way

VIRUDHUNAGAR: Collector V. Chandrasekaran on Monday inaugurated the Primary Health Centre days to be observed in PHCs under the Sivakasi health district. It would be observed till May 10.

The Collector said the PHC day would help people know about common diseases and ways to prevent them. Besides, they could get treatment for those diseases at the PHCs. Stating that the poorest of the poor were getting treatment at government hospitals, the Collector urged doctors to provide them quality medical care. He handed over Rs. 1.38 lakh under the Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy maternity assistance scheme to 33 women. He also inaugurated free distribution of egg and milk to pregnant and young mothers under a scheme at Tiruthangal PHC.
