Chandigarh: The Punjab Government will add 100 more air-conditioned buses to its existing fleet this month, following the successful operations of eight integral AC coaches on various routes. State Transport Minister Mohan Lal said the Government has already formulated a transport policy aimed at providing best public transport services at affordable rates. In order to provide comfortable and convenient services to passengers, the State Government in the past one year has added 258 new buses to the Punjab Roadways and PRTC fleet, he said. He asked officials to add more kilometre scheme buses on viable routes and directed them to draft rules on insurance of roadways and PRTC buses. -- PTI © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
