Inter first year results released

HYDERABAD: Intermediate first year results were declared here on Wednesday with increased pass percentage compared to last year. Marks scored in Intermediate first year have gained importance this year due to the introduction of weightage for EAMCET from 2009.

To discourage the corporate college managements from claiming the top ranks, only grades were given for the passed candidates as was the practice last year. Marks of failed candidates were however made available on the Internet so that they could prepare for advanced supplementary examination. Candidates who cleared all their papers can obtain their marks from their respective colleges after April 30.

This year, out of the 7,38,127 general candidates who took the examination, 3,91,375 candidates cleared the examination. Girls’ performance at 57 per cent pass is better than 50 per cent of boys.

Minister for Technical Education R. Chenga Reddy, who released the results, said maximum number of candidates obtained “A” grade (greater than or equal to 75 per cent). He said 1,55,999 candidates scored “A” grade, while 1,28,954 candidates figured in “B” (greater than or equal to 60 per cent and less than 75 per cent). In “C” grade (greater than 50 per cent and less than 60 per cent), 74,166 candidates figured while 32,256 candidates got “D” (greater than or equal to 35 per cent and less than 50 per cent).

Result of 64 candidates is withheld for want of information from the colleges. Krishna and Ranga Reddy districts topped the list with 67 per cent pass while Mahabubnagar figured at the bottom with just 33 per cent pass.

The advanced supplementary examination will be held from May 21 and the last date for payment of fee is April 30. There is no provision for payment of examination fee with penalty.

Candidates who have passed in all papers can appear for improvement, on payment of Rs. 20 per paper in addition to the normal examination fees. Candidates who wish to go for recounting have to pay Rs. 100 per paper and Rs. 600 per paper for photocopy as well as re-verification of answer book. Applications for this can either be obtained from the Regional Inspection Officers or principals of concerned junior colleges on payment of Rs. 2. The applications can also be downloaded from the website www.bieap.gov.in.
