VIZIANAGARAM: Minister for Housing Botcha Satyanarayana has said that the government is firm on controlling cement price in the open market, if necessary by amending the existing laws. Soon after the constitution of a Cabinet sub-committee, the price began to tumble, he said and the government was committed to making the product available to the common man at affordable rate. If the government department concerned could not supply cement, the housing beneficiary would be paid the prevailing market rate (not more than Rs. 200) for buying it in the open market, he told reporters here on Thursday. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
