Chirag United downs Vasco

Kolkata: Chirag United of Kolkata got the better of Goa’s Vasco SC by a solitary goal in the second round of the I-League Division II football final-phase played at the Nehru Stadium, Guwahati on Thursday.

Forward Gauranga Dutta nodded home the only goal of the match, availing a floater from midfielder Sasthi Duley in the 16th minute. This was the second successive win for Chirag United, which joined Mumbai FC on top of the league table with six points to its credit. Vasco, which had downed Indian Bank 3-2 in an exciting encounter in the first round, remained on three points.
