Collector makes surprise visit to residential school

Rampachodavaram: District Collector Gopalakrishna Dwivedi on Friday visited Agency areas, made a surprise visit to K. Yerrapalem Tribal Residential School, participated in Praja Patham in Vootla village, conducted review meeting in Rampachodavaram PMRC building.

During his visit, the Collector interacted with students and enquired about the menu chart, coaching classes conducted by the social welfare and education departments. He handed over SSC study material and asked the students to get A-grade in 10th class.

The Collector visited Irlapalli computer centre, where unemployed tribal youths were being trained. He asked the ITDA officials to provide facilities at the centre. He also asked the trainees to take up survey in Agency about the living standards of tribals in the past and present.

During Praja Patham in Vootla village, V. Somanna Dora and his wife explained to the Collector about their plight and gave details as to how they sold their land for treating chronic disease. The Collector immediately asked the Project Officer of ITDA to recommend the case under Arogya Sri.

Ration cards

Most of the tribal women complained about non-availability of white ration cards to the Collector. Responding, he asked the Revenue officials to identify bogus ration cards and cancel the same. He asked the tribals to bring to his notice about officials or employees who demand or ask money from them for doing any work in the government.

ZP Chairperson Ch. Venugopalakrishna, who spoke in Praja Patham meetings, said that the government was ready to provide drinking water, power, pensions, housing, rice, medical assistance through ‘108’ and ‘104’ services and other schemes. He said that NREGS was intended to give employment to rural poor.

ITDA project officer Yogita Rana, Sub-Collector Manik Raj, sarpanch Ch. Lakshmi, MPTC Bapanna Dora and others participated.
