Register in voters list: Collector

Polling stations will be guarded by Central Paramilitary Forces

Political parties asked to obtain prior permission for conducting meetings


ADILABAD: People who are not enrolled as voters in the constituencies where by elections will be held can register their names in the voters list until 3 p.m. on May 12 when the time for filing nominations ends.

Process

Updating the voters list is a continuous process and people desirous of getting themselves registered can contact the Revenue Divisional Officers concerned, suggested Adilabad Collector Ahmad Nadeem.

The Collector and Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar were addressing a meeting of representatives of political parties in connection with the ensuing by elections to Adilabad Lok Sabha and Khanapur Assembly constituencies.

The officials said in order to conduct free and fair elections, the polling stations will be guarded by Central Paramilitary Forces (CPMF) while State police will be responsible for maintaining law and order in the catchment area of respective polling booths.

Talking about the dos and don’ts of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) Mr. Nadeem said publicity material during elections should be published with the consent of candidates because the expenditure has to be properly accounted for. Any infringement will attract provisions of section 171H of IPC, he warned.

Mr. Anil Kumar asked political parties to obtain prior permission for conducting meetings and use of loudspeakers.

He also asked them to stick to the time allotted to them for taking out processions and so on.
