ADILABAD: The by-elections to Adilabad Lok Sabha constituency has suddenly opened up a chance for new entrants into Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) to prove their mettle. No other party has had new leaders, invariably line crossers from other major parties, joining their ranks like the TRS in recent months. Former Zilla Parishad chairperson Ch. Suhasini Reddy from Adilabad Assembly segment, Mamda ZPTC member Srihari Rao from Nirmal Assembly segment and Kaveti Sammaiah from Sirpur Assembly segment, all of them young, are among the notable leaders who joined the Telangana protagonist party in recent times. Ms. Suhasini Reddy had crossed over from TDP while the other two had belonged to Congress. It may also be noted that the former ZP chairperson’s mentor and TDP spokesman S. Venugopalachary and the Mamda ZPTC member’s mentor in Nirmal MLA A. Indrakaran Reddy have been declared as candidates from respective parties. The three TRS leaders in question had left their parties after feeling suffocated. Now the three leaders will be working for the win of the third contestant in T. Madhusudan Reddy who had earlier resigned as MP. Mass contactNo sooner had they shifted loyalties, the trio plunged into expanding and consolidating their bases in the respective Assembly segments. All of them have adopted mass contact as the modus operandi and the youth being the prime target group. Ms. Suhasini Reddy is concentrating on Jainad and Bela mandals that are strongholds of TDP and Congress respectively. Mr. Srihari Rao and Mr. Sammaiah appealed to the youth for working towards achieving a separate Telangana State. The latter also points out in his constituency the ‘disadvantages’ of having an MLA with Andhra roots. Given the drive shown by the three leaders, Mr. Madhusudan Reddy seems to be lucky to have them on his side. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
