CHENNAI: A 33-year-old man and a four-year-old girl were killed when the two-wheeler they were riding was hit by a container lorry near the Padi Railway Station on Monday morning. According to police, Bhaskar, a supervisor in a private company in Perungudi, was returning home on a motorcycle with his wife Lakshmi and daughter Ilakkiya after visiting his mother-in-law at Gummidipoondi around 5.30 a.m. when a container lorry coming to Chennai hit the vehicle. Ilakkiya’s hand came under the wheel and Bhaskar sustained head injury. Lakshmi escaped with minor injuries. They were rushed to a private hospital where Bhaskar succumbed to injuries. Ilakkiya died on way to another private hospital in Nungambakkam. The police are looking out for the driver of the container lorry. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
