NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation Director Vijay Shanker on Thursday called for setting up formal structures within State CID units for enhancing and expediting international cooperation in criminal matters. Inaugurating the second Interpol Liaison Officers’ conference here, Mr. Shanker suggested that such formal structures at State levels should have the wherewithal to coordinate with the National Crime Bureau-India, represented by Interpol wing of the CBI. In the wake of increasing globalisation of crime, such conferences would go a long way in putting in place a robust and efficient structure for international cooperation. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
