This Day That Age
The need for making greater effort to teach and do research in basic science in India was stressed by Prime Minister Nehru speaking in the Lok Sabha on May 1 on the debate on the scientific policy resolution of the Government. Mr. Nehru said that the resolution, which stressed the importance attached by Government to science, was not the expression of a pious hope but the culmination of something that Government had been doing ever since independence. They had built up a chain of national laboratories and as early as 1948, set up a Scientific Manpower Committee. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
