Dawnay, Day Hotels to build hotel chain

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: London hotel chain Dawnay, Day Hotels has formally launched its new brand ‘Ten Hotels by Dawnay Day’ in India and will come up with a dozen-odd four star category hotels across the country in the next two years.

The company has already begun construction of its new hospitality properties in Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Pune. With several land acquisitions in the pipeline, Dawnay, Day Hotels is expected to have eight properties operational by 2010.

The first hotel is scheduled to open in Jaipur by November to be followed by Pune and Ahmedabad in 2009.

Talking to newspersons here, Mandeep Lamba, Managing Director, Dawnay, Day Hotels (India) said the India launch was an important milestone for the company on the journey to build a valuable hospitality brand.

The hotel chain will target corporate and leisure segments with world standard conveniences at wallet-friendly rates. The prototype design for each hotel would be adapted to all locations after accounting for the regional flavour, thereby, giving each of them a distinct Ten brand identity.

He said all the hotels will be green field projects.
