Manika claws back from the brink

NEW DELHI: Manika Batra bounced back from the brink of defeat in the fourth game to overcome Vidhushi Vats 9-11, 11-7, 9-11, 15-13, 11-8, 14-12 in the women’s singles final of the 16th St. Columba’s Open table tennis tournament here.

In the men’s singles final, Sameer Sahni defeated Pranshu Gupta in five games.

In the sub-junior boys’ final, Utkarsh Gupta easily beat Dev Khandelwal.

The results (finals):

Men: Sameer Sahni bt Pranshu Gupta 11-9, 11-8, 11-7, 12-14, 11-9.

Women: Manika Batra bt Vidhushi Vats 9-11, 11-7, 9-11, 15-13, 11-8, 14-12.
