Hizb militant escapes after suicide bid

Jammu: A surrendered militant of the Hizbul Mujahideen on Sunday night consumed poison in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir and later fled the hospital where he was undergoing treatment, sources said.

Zulafikar Ali Rather escaped from the Kishtwar district hospital, carrying with him his medical records. Officials were yet to ascertain the reasons behind his suicide bid. The militant is facing trial under Section 420 of the Ranbir Penal Code in the Kishtwar district court — PTI
