Cashew council team for Santiago meet

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A four-member delegation under the leadership of P. Bharathan Pillai, chairman of the Cashew Export Promotion Council of India, will attend the XXVII World Nut and Dried Fruit Congress to be held at Santiago, Chile, South America, from May 9 to 11.

Nowfal Salam, proprietor, Royal Food Exporters, Kollam; A.A. Salam, proprietor, South Kerala Cashew Exporters, both members of the Council; and K. Sasi Varma, secretary of the Council; are the other members of the delegation.

The visit is also intended to take forward the national Council’s initiative for formation of a Global Cashew Alliance involving India, Brazil and Vietnam for undertaking joint promotional programmes for cashew in the global markets and enlisting the support of importers for the same.

The Cashew Export Promotion Council of India has been established to promote exports of cashew nut products.

It has quality upgradation laboratory and technical consultancy centre and provides in-house training.
