Golden Thread FC wins opener

Kayalpatnam: Golden Thread Football Club (Kochi) scored a comfortable 3-1 victory over Nilgiris District Football Association (Ooty) in the inaugural match of the 43rd annual Maulana Abulkalam Azad Memorial Trophy all-India football tournament at the United Sports Club ground, here on Tuesday.

Ranjith open the account for Golden Thread in the 18th minute converting a penalty. Sanjay scored the second goal in the 22nd minute off a pass from Vergesh and Vergesh completed the tally with a goal off a solo effort in the 30th minute.
