NEW DELHI: Ayonika Paul won the air rifle women’s gold medal with a total of 496.2 in the international junior shooting championship which concluded at Suhl, Germany, on Sunday, according to information received here on Tuesday. Ayonika shot 393 out of 400 in the preliminary phase. The Indian junior girls’ team of Ayonika, Neha Sapta and Lajja Goswami won the team gold with a total of 1175 out of 1200. Hambir Singh won the rapid fire pistol silver, while Upasana Parasrampuria won the bronze in the women’s sports pistol. The men’s doubletrap team and the air pistol team were also placed fourth. Ankush Bhardwaj (573) and Amit Kumar (570) did well to make the men’s air pistol finals and took the fifth and eighth places respectively with totals of 671.5 and 669. India finishes fourthThe Indian team finished fourth behind Germany, Czech Republic and Italy among the medal winners in the annual championship that featured 27 countries.
