World Laughter Day celebrated

PATIALA: National Theatre Arts Society, Patiala, celebrated World Laughter Day this past weekend with a mix of comedy and sobriety. The proceedings began with a community laughter session, a humorous presentation by theatre veteran Pran Sabharwal, some comedy by young Jasmeet Singh and singing by Kamaldeep Gill Timmy — and concluded with a powerful social satire, “Sava ser gehoon”, a Hindi adaptation of Munshi Prem Chand’s serious story of the same title by Chitral Modgil, directed by Rajesh Sharma of Natakwala.

Several artistes were felicitated at the end of the show. They included Rajesh Sharma, Kavita Sharma, Anil Sanauri, Sandeep Kailey, Ajay Jethi, Kailash Mehtab, Randip, Dharminder Sandhu and Nirmal Singh.
