Case against 5 for marrying off minor

Muzaffarnagar: A case has been registered against five persons, including the husband and mother of a minor girl, who was allegedly forced to marry in the district, police said on Wednesday.

The case was registered after 13-year-old Janki’s uncle Mahendra Singh informed the State Women’s Commission (SWC) about her marriage, they said.

Singh in his complaint to the SWC, alleged that the girl’s father Sompal, a resident of Harad village took her to her sister’s house where she was forcibly married to one Yashpal, police said.
