NEW DELHI: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation in association with Citibank India on Wednesday launched a “two-in-one” transit credit card that allows consumers to use a single card as a smart card for travelling on the metro and also as a credit card. The Delhi Metro Citibank Credit Card is the first of its kind in the country that combines the benefits of a metro smart card with the Citibank credit card. It also allows consumers to collect reward points on this card that can be redeemed for free rides on the metro. Additionally it offers double reward points for metro spending and will not require the mandatory security deposit of Rs.50. The Delhi Metro Citibank Credit Card will also offer benefits including exclusive shopping deals and discounts, fuel surcharge waivers at Indian Oil outlets and other privileges associated with a Citibank credit card. Commenting on the partnership with Citibank, DMRC Director (Operations) Raj Kumar said: “The DMRC is always looking to improve the transit customer’s experience and we are delighted to partner with Citibank to launch this unique offering”. Passengers using the special card will be eligible for a slew of privileges including a 10 per cent discount on travel fare paid with the “two-in-one” card, two reward points for every Rs.100 spent on the metro, one reward point for every Rs.100 spent elsewhere, facility for converting all reward points into metro points for free metro rides and a 2.5 per cent surcharge waiver at IOC petrol pumps © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
