VIRUDHUNAGAR: The district administration has launched a special public grievance redressal day at the panchayat level. The first meeting was held at Vadakku Natham in Aruppukottai taluk on Wednesday. The programme, under ‘district administration towards the people’ objective, would be held in all the 450 panchayats, the Collector, V. Chandrasekaran, said. Acknowledgements were issued against all 152 petitions received at the meeting. The petitioners sought free house site pattas, ration cards, old age pension, transfer of patta, maintenance assistance for disabled, group houses, road and drinking water facilities. The Collector said that all the petitions would be disposed of in three days to one week. Disposing of petitions on the spot, he also gave old age pension order to one Muruga Bhoopathi, community certificate to one Vigneshwar and orders for patta transfer for seven persons.
