ERODE: On June 5, 2006 two girls made history. On May 9, 2008 they repeated the feat. R. Dharani of Vidhyaa Vikas Girls’ Hr. Sec. School, Tiruchengode, won the State first rank in SSLC examination. Two years later, in higher secondary examinations, the results of which were declared on Friday, the girl scored 1182 to bag the State first rank. Likewise, A. Ramya of Erode-based Kalaimagal Kalvi Nilayam, who shared the State first rank in SSLC with Ms. Dharani, repeated the performance but scored 1181 to secure the State second rank. Ms. Ramya shares the second spot this time with S. Thalabathi Kkumara Vikram of Vidhyaa Vikas Mat. Hr. Sec. School, Tiruchengode. Dharani’s teachers B. Venkatesh and G. Muruganandam say the girl has good grasping capacity and the habit of clearing her doubts immediately. State second rank holder Ramya’s marks are almost the same as Dharani’s. The one mark that pushed her to the second spot is in Chemistry. Ms. Ramya aims to be software professional. “I plan to pursue computer science engineering in Anna University,” says the girl who is happy with her centum in computer science. The story of Vikram is no different. He says he studied hard to win a State rank because he could not get one in his Matriculation. He aspires to be a doctor. “My parents are doctors. Having seen the respect they commanded from people in the area, I decided to pursue medicine,” the boy from Periyakulam, Theni, says. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
