Veeraraghavan grabs lead

BANGALORE: Tarun Veeraraghavan grabbed the lead in Category ‘A’ (15-17 years) on the opening day of the KGA South Zone junior golf championships which commenced at the KGA Course, here on Friday.

Veeraraghavan submitted a card of nine-over 81 to take the lead in the two-day event, the fourth leg of the South Zone circuit.

I.L. Aalaap of Mysore was two strokes behind the leader, while local lad Trishul Chinnappa was a further stroke behind in the third place.

Coimbatore’s Vashista S. Pawar (86) took a slender one-stroke lead over Sarhan Italia in Category ‘B’ (13- 14 years).

Akshath Vidyanath, with a card of 82, took a huge five-stroke lead over his Chennai citymate Shivnaren Srinivasan in Category ‘C.’

K. Siddharth of Bangalore led by one stroke in Category ‘D’ with a card of 110.

Category ‘C’ (11-12): 82 Akshath Vidyanath; 87 Shivnaren Srinivasan; 89 Akash Srinivasan; 96 D. Venkat Gautham; 99 Arshaan Mehra.

Category ‘D’ (below-10): 110 K. Siddharth; 111 Kshitij Naveed Kaul; Prateek Madhiraju; 115 Vrushank Balu; 117 Aditi Ashok.
