10 quintals of PDS rice seized

VIJAYAWADA: Sleuths of the Vigilance & Enforcement Department on Saturday raided a godown at Autonagar and seized 10 quintals of rice being transported from a fair price shop at Yanamalakuduru.

The officials sealed the godown where 166 quintals of rice was stocked and were on the lookout for its proprietor B. Lakshmi Nageswari.

The officials immediately rushed to the fair price shop at Yanamalakuduru, where the dealer D. Sivaramakrishna managed to prepare a record balancing the stock and coupons.

He, however, confessed to his offence and said that he resorted to diversion of rice at the instance of one Kishore, a rice merchant.
