Reena Kumari gains last Olympic place

KOLKATA: Reena Kumari of Railways pipped Punya Prabha of Uttar Pradesh for the lone available berth in the Indian women’s recurve archery team for the Beijing Olympics. The other two places were taken by Laishsram Bombayla Devi and Dola Banerjee, both of Railways.

The squad: Men: Mangal Singh Champia (Rlys), Jayanta Talukdar, Rahul Banerjee (both Steel Plant) and Priyank Tyagi (UP). Women: L. Bombayla Devi, Dola Banerjee, Reena Kumari (all Rlys) and Punya Prabha (UP). — Special Correspondent
