Cop ‘assaults’ women

NEW DELHI: Two women have complained that a sub-inspector of Delhi Traffic Police assaulted them in the Vivek Vihar area of East Delhi.

The police said Sub-Inspector Arun Chauhan signalled a car to stop for over-speeding. The vehicle was being driven by the Pankaj, brother of complainants Sakshi and Ruchika.

While the traffic police personnel was issuing a challan, the two women laughed over something. They complained to the police that Sub-Inspector Chauhan suspected they were making fun of him and consequently thrashed them. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (East Delhi) said the versions of both the parties were being recorded and action would be taken after on their basis.
