Workshop on bioinformatics

CHENNAI: Presidency College will organise a workshop on application of bioinformatics in drug discovery and development later this year.

The seven-day workshop will be conducted from August 4 to 11, 2008, and will focus on ‘Bioinformatics with respect to Medical Science’. The programme is aimed at helping participants to understand bioinformatics as an important tool to do interdisciplinary research on drugs.

The workshop would cover areas such as background information on drug discovery and drug development — application of bioinformatics on drug discovery, impact of human genome project information in drug discovery development and the potential role of bioinformatics in discovery and development of drugs with minimal side effects but with maximum efficacy.
