CHENNAI: Elections for the office-bearers of Cine Directors’ Association, scheduled for Sunday, were put off following alleged threat to the contestants and their supporters by outsiders. Trouble started when some outsiders, claiming to be supporters of a particular group of candidates, threatened to indulge in violence near the polling station at the Art Directors’ Building, Virugambakkam. When the situation threatened to get out of control, the police arrived at the scene and restored normality. Though no untoward incident occurred, the elections were put off as the situation was not conducive. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
