Krishna Poonia takes the fourth spot

NEW DELHI: Woman discus thrower Krishna Poonia finished fourth with a throw of 59.83 in the California Invitational meet at Modesto, United States, on Saturday.

The Indian, training in Portland, Oregon, had touched a personal best 63.41 last Thursday at Salinas.

Krishna, who has already qualified for the Olympics, had a series of 51.61, 59.27, 59.04, 54.82, 57.16 and 59.83.

Stepahnie wins gold

American Stepahnie Brown Trafton took the gold with 63.29m. Anna Soderberg of Sweden (61.69) and American Suzy Powell (60.98) claimed the lesser medals.
