Held under Arms Act

VILLUPURAM: The police have arrested C. Kannappan (57), of Thethukadu in Sankarapuram block, under the Arms Act for illegal possession of a single-barrel gun.

According to the police, Manickam, a constable attached to the Sankarapuram police station, was on his regular beat on Sunday night when he found Kannappan in possession of the gun.

Kannappan revealed that he acquired it from a narikorava to ward off the pig menace in his farm.

Though he initially resisted arrest, he was later taken into custody. — Special Correspondent
