PUDUKOTTAI: The district unit of All-India Congress Committee Human Rights Department has urged the Union Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to initiate steps to install equipment for the operation of mobile and wireless local loop (WLL) at the Kattubawa Pallivasal, an all-religious pilgrimage centre near Thirumayam in the district. In a memorandum submitted to Union Minister for Finance P. Chidambaram on Monday, District secretary of the Department M. Mohamed Fakrudeen, who is also the secretary of the Katubawa Pallivasal, said that although the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited had set up a tower six months ago, the WLL phones were yet to function due to non-availability of equipment. Mr. Fakrudeen urged the Union Minister to initiate steps to provide communication facility at the village. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
