Government accused of bias

Staff Reporter

MADURAI: The State Government is taking a biased approach to the Uthapuram wall demolition with an eye on votes, Sethuraman, founder president of the All-India Moovendar Munnani Kazhagam, said on Monday.

In a statement here, he asked why Local Administration Minister M.K. Stalin did not visit villagers of Uthapuram who were living at the Thalayuthu hills, when he came down to Virudhunagar. The wall was not meant to divide people, but were remains of the houses set ablaze during the 1989 riots.

He asked the Government to solve the problem soon, as the villagers living in the hills were suffering from chicken pox and cholera and arrange for talks.
