Lawyers go on rampage

Allahabad: Advocates of Allahabad High Court on Tuesday set fire a State Roadways bus and vandalised a couple of private vehicles in protest against the death of a fellow lawyer who had been sentenced by the court in a contempt case. The unrest broke out this afternoon as the news of the death of 45-year-old S.P. Awasthi reached the high court. Awasthi was sentenced to one-month simple imprisonment last month and was lodged in a jail here. He was admitted to a hospital here on Monday following deterioration in his health. -- PTI
